Testimonial: Giuditta,
We are
in Bowling Green, KY and I found your website online. I just wanted to thank
you for the wonderful Painless Childbirth CD. It was a godsend during my 42
hour unmedicated natural labor. My husband and I listened to the cd on a loop
for the last 10 hours of labor during the most intense part. The cd was able to
relax me and keep me focused. I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy (Noah
Patrick Witty) on May 8th 2007 at 2:11pm. H
e
was 7lbs 13ozs and 21 in long. I attached a few pics of him. Thanks again! I
really felt like you were there with us in the delivery room helping to coach me
along. My husband, I, and baby Noah love you! His color was wonderful at birth
- he looked the same the day of birth as the next day and the next. He was also
holding his head up on his own for several seconds the night he was born due to
the fact we didn't have any drugs. Alisha Witty of Bowling Green KY

Changing Behavior![]()
Once ingrained in our childhood, most behavior becomes largely automatic; we experience a stimulus or trigger and react without conscious thought. Have you ever seen a three years old fall, bump his head and look at mom to find out which is the appropriate reaction? If mom smiles he goes on confidently playing as if nothing happened, if mom panics he starts crying as if in agonizing pain. Pain is a learned behavior, especially pain that is NOT DUE TO ANYTHING BEING WRONG, like the natural pressure of the labor waves. That is why trying to change behavior, emotions or have a natural childbirth by using only our self-will often fails. It has nothing to do with our intentions, or our commitment to them, or our will power: our minds just don’t work that way. We all need help!
What is the secret? Self-hypnosis!
How helpful is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis
is an ancient form of healing dating back to the times of ancient India and
Egypt. Hypnosis is still widely used in modern China instead of anesthesia for
many surgical procedures. “Hypnosis is helpful to anyone who is going into
medical treatment, because it helps the person to stay relaxed and de-stressed,”
says Joanne Marrow, PhD., professor emeritus at Cal State Sacramento. The
common side effects of therapeutic hypnosis are: improved self-image and
confidence, and a profound sense of achievement and empowerment.
Why should you use caution using pain-drugs?
READ THE RESEARCH*
THE EFFECTS OF THE EPIDURAL ON YOUR NEWBORN
The effect of epidural anesthesia on breastfeeding is highly controversial. For years, La Leche League leaders, lactation consultants and educators reported that babies whose mothers had epidurals have problems suckling at the breast. These difficulties include inability to find the nipple, inability to self-latch and inability to suck properly. Difficulties in suckling occur because "caine" anesthetics enter the mother's circulation and cross the placenta. The newborn's liver is too immature to break down the medication, so the effects linger. A thorough review (Walker, M. Do labor medications affect breastfeeding? Journal of Human Lactation, 1997, Vol 13, No2, Pgs 131-7) of the effect of epidurals and narcotics on subsequent breastfeeding found that epidural drugs are present in the laboring mother's bloodstream, cross the placenta to the fetus and affect the baby's later behavior, often causing difficulty with latching on and "inefficient" sucking. These 'sleepy' babies may need more time to 'acquire efficient breastfeeding skills.
What is the alternative?
How you prepare you mind and body is the singular most important factor for the successful outcome of your birth. Far too often our joy and excitement are over-shadowed by fear, uncertainty and questionable self-confidence. With the help of a professional Hypnotherapist you can reach and embrace your ability to change your state of fear, worry and stress into calm and self-confidence. When your mind, body, and soul are in harmony, you have essentially created the perfect balance for physical comfort, mental relaxation and emotional confidence. Relaxation, achieved through self-hypnosis techniques, releases the fear and tensions that cause long labor. Therefore, pain is eliminated. Fear creates tension and tension creates pain. This negative cycle is replaced with confidence, calm, and comfort. Through hypnosis, a naturally induced state of relaxed concentration, suggestions are communicated to the subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind directly influences what we think, how we feel, and the choices we make.

NOT SURE?
Here is more research* showing the following effects of the epidural:
Common Side Effects of Epidurals: Minimizing the Risks
|
Side Effect / Who affected |
Incidence: What percentage of moms or babies experience this |
What medical staff does to prevent this. |
What other interventions this side effect could lead to. |
|
Limited Mobility / Mom |
100% Some studies indicate that women may have more muscle mobility than they realize, but required monitoring equipment tends to make movement difficult. |
Can’t prevent it once you have an epidural. Can give a lower dose of medicine to minimize. |
Could lead to a posterior baby or other malpositioning, or could lead to failure to progress at any stage in labor, which may lead to cesarean. |
|
Low Blood Pressure / Mom |
0 – 50% † Relative risk (RR) 74.2 * |
Give extra IV fluids before epidural is given. |
More fluids, oxygen, or medication. If mom’s BP drops too much, baby’s heart rate can decrease, oxygen supply to baby can decrease. |
|
Fever / Mom |
4 – 24% ** RR 5.6 * The longer mom has epidural in place, the higher the fever risk. |
Monitor mom’s temp. |
May lead to elevated heart rate for baby, which may indicate fetal distress, which may lead to c-section. Mom may be given antibiotics for possible infection. |
|
Urinary retention in labor / Mom |
0 – 68% † |
Bladder catheter |
A full bladder can prevent cervical dilation and fetal descent. Increased risk of infection, postpartum urinary problems. |
|
Postpartum urinary incontinence / Mom |
Immediate postpartum: 27% with epidural, 13% without |
Keeping bladder drained during labor. |
May last for weeks. (At 3 months, was 16% for women who had used epidural, 4% for those who had not.) |
|
Shivering / Nausea / Vomiting / Itching |
Shivering 33% (Thorp) Nausea 0 – 30% † Vomiting 0 – 13% † Itching 8 – 100% † |
“Harmless”. No need to prevent. |
Can give medication for nausea and itching. May make mom very sleepy. |
|
Backache after birth / mom |
Immediately after birth: 53% with epidural, 43% without |
Proper placement of catheter. |
Postpartum pain medications. |
|
Incomplete Pain Relief / Mom |
5 - 10% |
Proper placement of catheter. Adequate levels of pain meds. |
May be more stressful than no pain relief at all. Epidural can be re-positioned; medication can be increased. |
|
Slower first stage / labor |
Most studies show this effect. -.4 – 4.8 hours longer. ** Average is 26 minutes longer.* |
Pitocin (artificial oxytocin through IV). 3 times more common with epidural |
If first stage stalls, you may require a c-section for failure to progress. Also, Pitocin can cause longer, stronger contractions. May lead to fetal distress, which may lead to c-section. |
|
Longer second stage (pushing) / Labor |
All studies show this effect. 0 to 55 minutes longer.** Average is 15 minutes longer.* |
Pitocin and/or Second stage interventions |
22 out of 24 studies indicate a higher risk of instrumental delivery (forceps, vacuum) With IV narcotic pain medication, chance was 3-7%. With epidural, chance was 15-53%. |
|
Fever / Baby |
30% |
Monitor mom’s temp. |
May cause elevated heart rate. If baby has fever, may be assumed to have an infection: can lead to observation or isolation, blood tests, antibiotics. |
|
Fetal distress due to Pitocin, mom’s low BP, maternal fever, or other causes/ baby |
10 – 15% of babies |
Monitor baby, attempt to avoid maternal conditions which may lead to fetal distress. |
Oxygen for mom. Treat maternal conditions. Decrease pitocin, which may lead to failure to progress. May lead to cesarean section. |
|
Baby in posterior position, other malpresentation / Baby |
One study showed 20 - 26%. Another showed that all but 4% of babies rotate without epidural. With epi. 19% will stay posterior. |
|
Greater chance of c-section or instrumental delivery. |
|
Cesarean Birth / Effects mom and Baby |
Studies consistently show that c-section is 2-3 times more likely with epidural. One study showed that risk was 26% if epidural at 4 cm, 33% at 3 cm, 50% if epidural given at 2 cm dilation. |
Pitocin to aid dilation. Forceps or vacuum extractor to aid delivery. |
Risks of c-section for mom include: risks of infection, increased bleeding, longer postpartum stay, possible anesthesia effects, more postoperative pain, and possible impact on future pregnancies. Effects on baby may include respiratory distress syndrome and other impacts of surgical birth. *Go to bottom of page to find research reference |
TRUST IN YOURSELF YOU CAN DO IT
Most of us have been programmed to believe that getting what we want involves struggle and effort. That's not longer necessary. If we focus our intentions, and turn on the secret switch in our subconscious, we will obtain our heart's desires effortlessly.
You can now take complete charge of your birthing experience, obtain unprecedented levels of energy, feel amazing when you wake up in the morning, and be prepared for a painless childbirth.
Here is my story!
I am a birth and postpartum doula certified through the International organization DONA. I am also a certified clinical hypnotherapist and the mother of two born at home painlessly. Yes you heard it right, painlessly, and I am not alone. Ever since their birth I have dedicated my life in encouraging mothers to birth stress, drug and pain-free. Many of my clients have benefited from my methodology and have achieved their desired births. Our ancestors did it without drugs, we can do it too. Think about it, your doctor will not allow you to take a simple aspirin during pregnancy, but once in the hospital they'll inject a morphine derivative to ease the labor waves, opening the door to more medical intervention. Why do you need an epidural? So that you may relax and your baby can easily be born. Why not use self-hypnosis, the most natural and proven way of relaxation to achieve the same results!

Dear Giuditta,
I want to let you know how wonderful your "Joyful Birth-Self-Hypnosis for a
painless and joyful childbirth" is. I played it during the labor of my last two
clients and they were able to completely relax. Actually I was able to rest
myself !!! Your voice, your suggestions and the beautiful music really help
create a peaceful atmosphere around the mother and her partner. After the birth,
both mothers told me how much the visualizations helped them to cope with the
contractions even when the CD was not actually playing. In short, "Joyful Birth"
worked very well as a great relaxation tool !!!

I
just wanted to thank you for helping our birth be smooth and manageable. That's
the best way I can describe it. I listened to your cd everyday for the 4-5 wks
prior that I had it. and I listened to it all during labor and delivery. it
really helped to recognize that each contraction
would come and go and then I have a break. it was very nice to have and then it
turned out that the contractions didn't feel that painful, just kind of there
working to get the baby out. I was totally present during the whole labor and
very relaxed and comfortable with what was going on. When the baby dropped down,
I just relaxed and let her go there and let labor progress. Such a difference
from my first birth where I was tense and resisting the contractions. wow. we
only pushed for 20 min and she was there. I also preferred to not be in a bed
this labor but to walk around and at the end stand and sit with birthing chair.
Thanks again, you've a gift to bring joy to birthing and I just wanted to say a
big thank YOU and will be telling friends who get pregnant about you and your
cd. Carolyn

I just wanted to let you know that
I rec'd the CD and find it very
relaxing. I like the pace and the detail of the imagery. It puts me to
sleep every night. A sleep deprived pregnant woman can be very
dangerous. (It must work.)
Thanks you, C. Schultz

Finally
Someone who believes women can do it!, I am a mother of a 3 month old beautiful
boy. When I was pregnant I was searching the web for some serious and loving
information about the spiritual aspect of pregnancy and birth, and for someone
who told me that it was possible to have a child painlessly. There are many
websites, but this one excels in making a mommy-to-be feel like a goddess. There
are so many articles and it seems I can go nearly every month and find something
new and very encouraging and useful. I joined their newsletter and receive great
info, even now that I am breastfeeding! I recommend it highly to any mommy!
