We are in Bowling Green, KY and I found your website online. I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful Painless Childbirth CD. It was a godsend during my 42 hour unmedicated natural labor. My husband and I listened to the cd on a loop for the last 10 hours of labor during the most intense part. The cd was able to relax me and keep me focused. I wanted to recommend the birth and postpartum doula services of Giuditta Tornetta of Joy

I originally hired her to be my postpartum doula. My husband and I decided at the last

minute we wanted her at our birth. Luckily she was available to come to the hospital once I

was admitted after my water broke a week early before my due date. Giuditta was

instrumental in helping me deliver naturally without pain medication while being induced. She is very respectful of the parents' wishes and worked well with my doctor and nurses

during delivery. Giuditta really made the birth of my baby a wonderful experience. I

completely trusted her and she helped me focus on my breathing and what my body was

doing so that I really did not experience any pain. I know I couldn't have done it without her!

As for her postpartum care, she is phenomenal! I had interviewed 10 other doulas and

knew the moment I met her that she'd be the one for us. I also want to add that Giuditta's

references echoed my experience. They all adore her. I believe that she helped keep me

calm throughout the birth and afterwards which, I believe, helped result in a super calm/

easy baby. Giuditta really is the "baby whisperer." Giuditta helped me with breast feeding, baby care, infant massage and to top it all off she is a fabulous gourmet cook!

I was able to have a natural birth without any drugs or medical interventions due to the help and training provided us by Doula Giuditta.

She was here with me at home when I went into heavy labor at 7:30am, worked with me at home until we went to the hospital at 9:30 and our baby was born with the UCLA midwives at 11:41 am, all within only 4 hours. Afterwards I was able to walk myself to the recovery room, pushing the cart with my baby.

We can't recommend Doula Giuditta highly enough. The experience was amazingly wonderful, much like that written about Ina May's Guide to Childbirth (a great book, by the way!). Feel free to contact us through Giuditta for more information.

Thank you for getting me through a pitocin induced -- but epidural free! -- delivery. My husband and I had imagined going into labor at home, strolling on the beach, dining on a leisurely meal and then heading to the hospital to have our first child. So we were very surprised and scared to find out suddenly that I would have to be induced after going in for a routine doctor's appointment.

Your level head and sound advice kept us calm as the induction started. Most importantly, you made us believe I could get through labor without an epidural, in spite of the stronger contractions that come with induction. And your emotional and physical support as labor progressed made all the difference in bringing out little son into the world free of the side effects of paid medications.

Gabrielle, Tim & I are doing much, much better. As she is calming down she is getting more and more enjoyable. My sister came after you were here and she just loved the Moby Wrap. Thanks for all your suggestions, including the Moby wrap, toothbrush, papazan seat, tummy time, etc. You helped bring peace to our household. Gabrielle now goes to sleep every night at 7:30, wakes up for a peaceful meal at 10:00, a semi peaceful meal at 3:00, and then for the morning at 6:30. She sure is special. Have a great day......

In our case, we did not need a midwife -- with twins we necessitated a cesarean birth but our doula Giuditta helped us create a birth plan, get the babies latched on properly, advocated for and supported our desires in the hospital, and helped us tremendously after the birth with many things we needed to learn about babies. She spent so many nights just caring not only for our two beautiful daughters, but for mommy as well. She is so good with breastfeeding.

Thank you so much for you help at the birth of our daughter Ngaire. Your knowledge and practical advice helped so much leading up to the birth and looking after Ngaire afterwards. With your help the labour and delivery went really smoothly and was a wonderful experience. I really appreciate all you did for us. I remember after the birth when they were weighing and measuring Ngaire, you were sitting at the foot of the bed, head propped in your hands just beaming and I thought "Here's a woman with job satisfaction."

When Giuditta started working with us, our baby was having weight gain issues and I was having breastfeeding problems. Even though we had taken the prenatal classes at our doctor's office, we were completely unprepared for the first weeks at home after our baby was born. After two months of coming to our house a few nights a week, she completely helped us turn everything around. By the time she left, I had no more pain when breastfeeding and our baby had become a happy, healthy (and heavy) baby! I'll never forget the first night she showed up - my husband and I were exhausted and insecure about everything relating to the health and welfare of our newborn daughter. That first night, she showed me a hold when breastfeeding which made it much easier to hold the baby, and then showed us how to swaddle and quiet our screaming bundle of joy. After that, she put my husband and I to bed. We both got a sound night's sleep and woke up to a delicious breakfast Giuditta had cooked for us in the wee hours of the morning. Without Giuditta, I don't know how we would have made it through those weeks without being miserable and exhausted. We miss her calmness, her insight and her delicious cooking! I'll never forget the day Giuditta first came to help me with my newborn son. She was like a beacon of light during a very difficult adjustment time. Arriving with an open ear and an open heart, she carried bags full of fresh groceries that she effortlessly transformed into gourmet meals for the week. I immediately felt calmed and soothed by her presence. Her knowledge and experience is so vast - from breast feeding, to infant care and health, to mom's health and nutrition. What was supposed to be a month-long arrangement between us ended up continuing almost four months because I soon realized that there was so much to learn from her. "I was nineteen years old and rubbing my belly, praying to God that my birthing experience would be a great one. A couple of months later my prayers were answered. A wonderful woman by the name of Giuditta Tornetta offered to be my Doula, and with both our hearts' passion towards a natural birthing experience, I gratefully accepted.

It was time and labor struck with its magic. Instead of being unaware of all that I was going through, Giuditta let me know ahead of time what I'd be feeling... from contractions ten minutes apart to "the ring of fire." Giuditta made me realize that a woman is built for the beauty of birth. I never knew i had so much strength inside me.

We went for a walk, later she massaged my back. When I thought I couldn't take it anymore, there she stood with a smile and a warm towel to place on my lower belly. She told me with a soothing tone that Leela was ready, so through my pain I knew I'd see my little girl soon. In the bath I cried throughout my contractions, I wanted to head towards the hospital and take whatever drug. She reminded me that was not what I wanted to do. Although I was weak and full of tears she remained calm, peaceful, beautiful and wise. If it was not for her I would have melted with pain getting to ten centimeters on a lonely hospital bed. We finally arrived at the hospital when I was eight centimeters. I thank God for giuditta, for her comfort and Doula remedies.

"When my water broke a month before my due date, the hospital staff immediately wanted to put me on pitocin. I signed myself out against medical advice, went home and called Giuditta. Giuditta helped my labor to progress safely and naturally with the simplest and most pleasant of techniques, a nice long walk. During the walk she spoke with my husband and me about what we could expect throughout labor and helped us to keep our spirits light and hopeful with her gentle and good humored presence. Giuditta stayed with us throughout the day, showing us videos about labor and baby care, and helped my husband find ways to support me with massage and counter pressure. She gave us a CD of helpful meditations and encouraged us to take a nap and get fortified for the night ahead. As my labor progressed, she had me spend some time in the shower, letting the hot water relax me. Giuditta stayed with us constantly at the hospital, consistently being affirming, encouraging and kind to my husband and me. She helped us to make our own decisions about which medical interventions we wanted and encouraged us to advocate for ourselves with the hospital staff. Although in the end, I chose to have an analgesic for the pain, Giuditta's support prevented me from fearfully accepting pitocin, an epidural, and an episiotomy, none of which I needed, and my recovery was quick and easy. Looking back, I realize my husband was even more nervous and scared about childbirth than I was, and would not have been much support for me. Giuditta did not replace him, but helped guide both of us through the miracle of bringing our baby girl into the world with good humor and strong faith in my body's ability. Should we be blessed with a second child, I will start working with Giuditta earlier so that I can benefit from her self-hypnosis CDs and her wonderful, positive spirit."

She was there for me throughout the entire process and I couldn't have done it without her. My husband is in the Navy and I was blessed to have her assigned as my Doula through Operation Special Delivery. Finally Someone who believes women can do it!, I am a mother of a 3 month old beautiful boy.
